For their second home in Upstate New York, our clients wanted a house with character and history that was also able to meet the needs of a modern family. The new-construction house was built on the foundation of an historic farmhouse which inspired the overall design. The interiors are layered with antiques, family heirlooms and new furniture. We incorporated more traditional design elements in the formal rooms, built on the original footprint, and kept the family room, kitchen and bedrooms in the newer wing more relaxed with neutral tones, distressed wood finishes and linen textures.
